About
Hi, I’m Valerie Maidment! I live in Lower Island Cove, NL.
I used to be a cashier and gas attendant at Wheeler’s Mini Mart. One day, I
decided to buy it and ended up running a successful business for just over six
years, doing my own bookkeeping. I have certificates in Computerized Accounting
from Keyin College and Bookkeeper/Clerk from Avalon community College.
In 2008, I suddenly lost my vision.
After learning to cope with my vision loss I decided it was time to get back into
the work force. With the help of CNIB, I learned how to use the computer again. I
decided to go back to school where I successfully completed an Office Technology
Enhancement Program. Since then I have completed many courses with the
Hadley institute for the Blind including business Fundamentals, Excel and
Accounting.
My passion lies with bookkeeping so I’ve decided to start V&M Bookkeeping
Services. We offer bookkeeping services to new entrepreneurs, small businesses and non-
profit organizations.
